T.O.K. – Footprints (When You Cry)

Monday, October 27th, 2008

Founded in the early 1990s, T.O.K. are a dancehall group hailing from Kingston, Jamaica. The group comprises four members: Alistaire “Alex” McCalla, Roshaun “Bay C” Clarke, and Craig “Craigy T” Thompson, who were choir members at Kingston’s Campion College, and a younger friend, Xavier “Flexx” Davidson, who attended Calabar High School. Originally they were called Touch of Klass, but they have devised several backronyms, including Taking Over Kingston and Too Klaat.

Sean Kingston – Take You There

Monday, October 20th, 2008

Sean Kingston is a Jamaican singer and rapper we have featured before. I just wanted to post this video because it has a creative story line. Take You There,  is still played quite a bit on the radio and is always being remixed by popular DJs. You can read more about Sean Kingston in our earlier post. Enjoy!

Sly & Robbie Feat Simply Red – Night Nurse

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Sly and Robbie are one of reggae’s most prolific and long lasting production teams. The rhythm section of drummer Lowell Dunbar (nicknamed Sly after Sly Stone, one of his favorite musicians) and bass guitarist Robert Shakespeare started working together in the mid 1970s, after having established themselves separately on the Jamaican music scene. They are humorously also sometimes referred to as Sly Drumbar and Robbie Basspeare.
